The Iranian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Mahdi Khandaghabadi, the Minister Counsellor of Brunei High Commission, En Zaini Hj Mahmud and the Naza Group Chief Executive Officer, En SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin were present at this momentous event.

The export to Iran and Brunei marks a new chapter in the growth of Naza Bikes and the Naza Group. SM Faisal, Group Chief Executive Officer of Naza Group of Companies and Naza Bikes CEO said, “This is a significant milestone for Naza Bikes as we move to retail our products beyond Malaysia, Iran is one of the first of many countries that would see our local products being used for their daily transport. And we hope the first batch of Naza bikes to Brunei will be the cursor of many more of our bikes getting on to the Brunei roads. We continue to seek parties that are interested in retailing our products in other countries in line with the long-term direction of the company.”

SM Faisal has been working for the Naza group for the past 13 years and is the person responsible for the Naza own brand products entry first introduced into the local market 6 years ago. Faisal has since successfully launched four important Naza’s own products into the Malaysian market. He added, “I have managed to diversify and launched Naza for the ‘market entry’ of Naza’s first two own vehicles produced in the Naza plant in Gurun, Kedah, the ‘Naza Ria’ the first MPV and the ‘Naza Citra’ the first mini MPV launched in 2003 and 2005, whilst the first two motorcycles produced in Shah Alam were the ‘Symphony’ and the ‘Gemilang’ launched in 2003. Since its incorporation in 2003, Naza Bikes has successfully introduced 12 different models of motor bikes and was the first Malaysian manufacturer to introduce big bikes within the 250cc to 650cc range at affordable prices in the local market. This is in tandem with the Naza Group vision and Naza’s own history, and is a major step forward in line with my late father’s aspiration”.

All Naza motorcycles are produced at its 24,000 sq ft facility plant in Shah Alam, which includes its research and development centre, assembly lines, testing track, pre-delivery inspection, after sales and distribution centre before the products being sent nationwide. The motorcycles produced by Naza are in collaboration with its partners from Korea, Taiwan and China. Naza is committed to sourcing the best technological partners to develop reliable, affordable and efficient motorcycles.

In 2006, the company successfully created its first motorcycle body frame using local R&D talents and resources. The frame is used for the “Naza Flash”, which has been successfully introduced to the Malaysian market in 2007 and now being exported for the first time. The body frame and all the components of the motorcycle were rigorously tested up to 40,000km that includes town roads, highways and coastal roads in various weather conditions.

Naza Bikes is committed to develop better local components to compete with the more established makes. The aim is to create a “Malaysian Motorcycle” designed and built by local Malaysian talents.
Just last week, Naza group has signed a collaboration with Motorola to avail the various human capital program offered by Motorola University to the Group’s workforce including Naza Bikes employees in leadership development, lean manufacturing, customer driven total solutions and the Motorola Six Sigma Program series.

“This well-known and well-tested Motorola programs would be made available to employees of all 23 companies under my supervision, would imbue the spirit of competitiveness and desire to perform and deliver. As a bumiputera company, we are committed to enhance companies within the Group to an operational level at par with global stature.” said SM Faisal, the eldest son of the late Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin.

SM Faisal added, “The various short-term and long-term programs offered would be a crucial part of the foundation building of Naza Bikes particularly and the Naza Group as a whole as we expand our operations and businesses in Malaysia and globally, setting our resources to be ready for international commerce. We aim to create a truly Malaysian motorcycle for everyone and we want to see more of our products on the roads in Malaysia and overseas”.

In Iran, the motorcycles would be distributed by Dino Motor Co an established motorcycle assembler and distributor while in Brunei they would be distributed by Yakis Naza Sdn Bhd. Naza Bikes hopes the successful entry into Iran which is also its first foray into the Middle East market and to Brunei would see many more Naza bikes being exported and distributed in the both region. Naza Bikes is expected to export 3,000 units of the ‘Flash’ to various countries in 2009. The company also plans to export other products that includes and not limited to the GTR 150, Blade 250/250R and those in the bigger cc range.
